I'm Liz Liano, and today we're going to be talking to Analy Armenta.

Welcome Analy.

Thank you for having me.

And congratulations on being one of the Mayor's Top Teens.

So we'd like to hear a little bit about you.

What are some of the things that you've been doing at school and some of your activities?

So I'm, at school I'm involved with in ENLACE, I've been a member of the band for all four years.

I'm actually the percussion section leader right now.

I'm also in the National Honor Society.

I do FCCLA, which is like the Facts Club.

And, ENLACE.

I don't know if I mentioned that.

You did.

Can you, enlighten us what is ENLACE?

So ENLACE is an acronym.

It stands for Engaging Latino Communities and Education.

And it's a program, You start your sophomore year and you're through your rest of your high school and you just learn more about your identity.

You learn about fitting into the community, and you do community service projects.

And I actually learned how to, like, speak in front of crowds because of ENLACE.

Wonderful, and what, what got you into that group or what motivated you to joining that group?

So to get into that group, you actually have to do a interview.

And I just thought, like, why not?

And so I tried out.

And so I later found out that the sophomore class actually chooses the following, like the incoming sophomore class.

And so they do all of the interviews and then they go and they choose Who is fit for the program.

Wow.

And what about it, intrigued you?

They just do a lot of stuff around our school.

Like, they have the noche luminarias in December, which is where they put up a whole bunch of luminaries all through the school, and they have, like, food and games, and they also do a yearly loteria.

So it's just like something you saw and, something I wanted to be a part of.

Very sweet.

So you also said you're involved with FCCLA?

Yes.

What is that?

That is also an acronym.

I don't remember what it's for, but it's like the Facts Club.

We do like caterings, and we actually just went to regional competition.

I'm competing in thematic promotion.

So I made, me and my friend made a poster and we had to make like with lights and like really intricate and we got gold.

So we will be going to the state competition later this month, but I will be missing that because of a band function.

Wonderful.

So you're in band as well?

Yes.

And what do you play?

I play percussion, mainly the bass drum during marching season and mostly mallet instruments during the concert season.

Wonderful.

And what's your favorite instrument?

My favorite instrument.

Probably the bass drum.

Wonderful.

And where will you be going to school?

I am admitted to NMSU, and I will be starting in the fall.

Wonderful, and what are you going to be studying?

I am still undecided, but I have my major set as a HRTM, so that is hopefully what I'll be following.

Wonderful, wonderful.

And you're excited to move on to NMSU but still stay in Las Cruces?

Yeah.
